Life in the Banyan tree- Learning Gardens Living Museums
Product Details
This illustration looks at the banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis) as more than a single tree. It brings together the many forms of life that depend on it, some easy to spot and others hidden in plain sight.
If you have spent time near a banyan tree, you may recognise this. Birds, insects and small animals move through its branches, roots and leaves, each finding space and purpose within it.
The banyan is a keystone species, supporting a wide range of life. What appears to be one tree is actually a network of relationships, offering food, shelter, nesting spaces and pathways for movement.
The illustrations were first drawn by hand in pencil and then coloured digitally.
